Confirmed! All doubts have been cleared about resuming date. As part of the schedule to resume academic work in the next term, (2nd Term) there are some noted statutory holidays for all Basic Schools.
2nd TERM BEGINING DATE
The 2nd Term of the 2033 academic year for all Basic Schools in Ghana will commence from 3rd April 2023 through to 15th June 2023.

HOLIDAYS IN THIS TERM
This term, Second (2nd) Term has three (3) statutory holidays.
Currently, in Ghana, the government has divided the holidays into two (2) separate groups.
The Statutory holidays are the holidays that will be observed while Commemorative days will not be observed.
The 2nd Term in the 2023 academic year has both holidays.
The Statutory holidays and Commemorative days in the 2nd Term of the 2023 academic year are as follows:
STATUTORY HOLIDAYS
- Good Friday – 7th April.
- Easter Monday -10th April.
- May Day (Workers’ Day) – 1st May.
COMMEMORATIVE DAY
- African Union Day -25th May.
The above four (4) holidays are in the 2nd Term of 2023 however, only three (3) will be observed.
START OF 3rd TERM 2023
The last term in the 2023 academic year, the 3rd Term will begin on the 27th of June 2023.
According to Ghana Education Service (GES), the world’s pandemic, COVID 19 distorted the usual running of the academic year therefore they are on their toes to revert to the old academic calendar.
Based on that, the 2024 academic year will start this year, 2023 September. This means the 1st Term of the 2024 academic year will start in 2023.
