PRINCOF requested for the reduction of allowance component due Trainees -NEC

According to the National Executive Council (NEC), the Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education (PRINCOF) requested for the reduction of allowance component due Trainees.

The letter was signed by John Edem Avedzi, General Secretary, and Jephthah Nana Kwame, President dated today, 24th July 2023.

The full release from NEC reads:

On behalf of the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Association, we write to provide you with a crucial update regarding the disbursement of Teacher Trainee allowances:

  1. We are pleased to inform you that the allowance payment has been confirmed and will be disbursed this week. As per the arrangement, the allowance for three months will be paid to eligible Teacher Trainees.
  2. However, we have been informed that, the allowance component of Trainees has been reduced to GH¢ 149.00 based on the request from PRINCOF to the Ministry of Education (MoE) last academic year to supplement the feeding of Trainees, effective this academic year.

We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to all of you for your patience, commitment, and support throughout the fight for the Teacher Trainees allowance. We remain resolute in our efforts to secure the best possible outcomes for your welfare.

FORMER/INITIAL ALLOWANCE DETAILS

Every eligible student is entitled to GH400.00 per month in every semester of an academic year.

SLTF receives and disburses GH204.00. The said amount is disbursed as follows:

Out of the GH¢204.00, they pay GH¢200.00 directly to the student’s e-zwich account for withdrawal.

The GH¢4.00 is paid to TTAG as dues. The remaining GH¢196.00 is paid directly to the Principals of the various Colleges of Education (CoE) to cater for feeding and other expenses on behalf of the students.
