The Office of the Controller & Accountant-General Department (CAGD) on July 24, 2025, released that the salaries of 5,673 employees processed for payment in July 2025 have been suspended pending investigation.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: TERMINATION OF SALARIES FOR INACTIVE/SEPARATED STAFF.

Following the 2025 Nationwide Payroll Headcount Exercise conducted by the Ghana Audit Service, it was revealed that a total of Fifty-Three Thousand, Three Hundred and Eleven (53,311) officers were separated staff and being paid.

As part of measures to safeguard the public purse, the salaries of Five Thousand, Six Hundred and Seventy-Three (5,673) employees processed for payment in July 2025 have been suspended pending further investigations. In addition, the remaining Forty-Seven Thousand, Six Hundred and Thirty-Eight (47,638) officers, have had their salaries already terminated and do not appear on the current payroll.

All heads of institutions are required to take the necessary steps to recover any unearned salaries that may have been paid as a result of wrongful validation.

Furthermore, any affected government employee whose salary has been stopped but is at post should be issued a letter from their respective covered entities addressed to the Auditor-General with the Ministry of Finance in copy, to enable appropriate remedial action to be taken.

The list of affected employees would be sent electronically or in hard copy as appropriate to you.
