The salary of Degree Teachers who have been employed by the Ghana Education Service (GES) has been detailed.
Each profession has its salary structure whether it is based on Certificate A, Certificate B, Diploma, or Degree.
The actual salary of teachers in Ghana is influenced or/ determined by numerous factors including rank, duties assigned, experience, and promotions.

Currently, the new crop of teachers in Ghana are awarded a Degree after studying a 4-year Degree programme.
The employer, GES has declared Degree as the minimum entry point for all teachers. Gradually, Diploma as the basis requirement for teachers will fade in the system.
GES holds Degree holders in high esteem and places them on the rank of Principal Superintendent.
The salary (gross salary) for newly employed teachers (Degree holders) under GES will be between GH¢2,800.00 and GH¢3,050.00 (estimated salary) depending on the factors that influence the increment of salary.

In the news months ago, a new base pay agreement was discussed and finalised where the Base Pay was agreed to bring an increment in salary.
The newly reached base pay has brought an increment in the salary of Diploma holding teachers also. Diploma-holding teachers will take GH¢2,239.96 in estimation.
The government team and Organised Labour agreed on a 30% increment in the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) as a Base Pay on the 12th day of January 2023.
The increment agreed on came into full force in January this year, 2023, and will come to an end on 31st December 2023.
