2024/2025 Academic Year Calendar: GES releases 2024/2025 Academic Year Calendar for Basic Schools

Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially released the academic calendar for the 2024/2025 Academic Year.

After COVID 19 which caused the distort of the academic year in Ghana, GES has finally revert the old academic year structure for all Basic Schools to aid the teaching and learning process.

The 2024/2025 academic year according to GES will kickstart in September 2024.

Important dates in the 2024/2025 academic year for your perusal.

Reopening date for First Term (Term 1) 2024/2025 academic year

Total Weeks for the Term 1 is fifteen (15) weeks

1. Reopening date: September 10, 2024
2. Public Holidays: Dr. Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Day (September 21, 2024)
3. Special Events: World Teachers Day (October 5, 2024), World Children’s Day (November 20, 2024)

Vacation date: First Term (Term 1) Vacation date

The vacation date for First Term (Term 1) starts from December 20, 2024 through to January 7, 2025.

Second Term (Term 2) Reopening Date

Total Weeks for the Term 2 is fifteen (15) weeks

1. Reopening Date: January 8, 2025
2. Public Holidays: Good Friday (April 18, 2025), Easter Monday (April 21, 2025)
3. Special Celebrations: March Independence Celebration (March 6-7, 2025)

Vacation date: End of Second Term (Term 2 vacation date)

The vacation date for Term 2 in 2024/2025 academic year is April 17, 2025

Break Period: April 18, 2025 – May 5, 2025

Third Term (Term 3) Reopening Date

Total Weeks for Term 3 is Twelve (12) weeks

1. Reopening Date: May 6, 2025
2. Public Holidays: 1st May (2025), African Union Day (May 25, 2025), Eid-ul-Adha (June 7, 2025)
3. End-of-Term (Vacation Date for Term 3): July 24, 2025

Vacation duration: The vacation duration for the last term in the 2024/2025 academic year, Third Term is Thirty-two (32) days starting from July 24, 2025, through to September 7, 2025.
