Assessment FORM B for Teaching Practice Assessment; Needed Items on the Assessment Form

Teacher Trainees would be assessed in many ways. Level 400s would take full control of classroom when they are vacate their respective colleges for Macro Teaching throughout their Level 400 first semester.

Teacher Trainees would be assessed while teaching when they report to their various Macro Teaching attached schools by their college’s STS UNIT.

This article is purposefully meant to educate all readers who are interested in knowing how the turbines of teaching practice propels. Also, to assist all Teacher Trainees who seeks for guidance on how to chalk success with their lesson and career as the untimate goal afterwards.

Kindly take your time and read this article vividly. Attention should be paid to all the requirements under each item and the allocated scores attached to them.
NB: The attached scores will be summed up by the supervisor after supervising your lesson for the slated day.

I. Objectives/ Indicators

Under this item, the delivery of the lesson plan will be assessed and award scores appropriately using the allocated scores at the top of each item.

LESSON PLAN’S EXPECTATIONS

5=Very Good
Teacher states specific, relevant, measurable and relevant, measurable and achievable objective(s)/ indicator(s) which are linked to classroom activities.

4 = Good
Teacher states specific relevant, measurable, and achievable objective(s)/ indicator(s) but not linked to classroom activities.

3= Satisfactory
Teacher states specific relevant and measurable objective(s) / indicator(s) but they are not achievable within the duration of the lesson.

2=Unsatisfory
Teacher states specific objective(s)/indicator (s) that are relevant but not measurable or achievable.

0/1= Poor
Teacher states lesson objective(s)/indicator (s) that are not relevant to the lesson.

II. Summaries/ the Core points

5=Very Good
Teacher states summaries/core points for all activities which are related to lesson objective(s)/indicator(s).

4=Good
Teacher states summarises/core points for all activities which are related to some lesson objective(s)/indicator(s).

3=Satisfactory
Teacher states summarises/core points for some activities which are related to some lesson objective(s)/indicator(s).

2=Unsatisfactory
Teacher states summarises/core points for all activities but they are not related to lesson objective(s)/indicator(s).

0/1=Poor
Teacher does not state summarises/core points for the lesson.

Item and allocated scores for Teaching methodology and delivery.

III. Teaching and learning activities

5= Very Good
Teacher provides for all teacher/learner activities and are logical or sequential with time indicated.

4 = Good
Teacher provides for some teacher/learner activities and are logical or sequential with time indicated.

3= Satisfactory
Teacher provides teacher/learner activities which are logical or sequential but with no time indicated.

2 = Unsatisfactory
Teacher provides teacher/learner activities which are not logical or sequential but no time indicated.

0/1 = Poor
Teacher/learner activities are not sequential or logical and no time indicated.

IV. Teaching and learning resources (TLRs)

5= Very Good
Teacher states appropriate TLRs and indicates when and how they will be used in the lesson.

4=Good
Teacher states appropriate TLRs and indicates how they will be used in the lesson but not when they will be used.

3=Satisfactory
Teacher states appropriate TLRs and indicates when they will be used in the lesson but not how they will be used.

2=Unsatisfory
Teacher states TLRs which are appropriate but does not indicate when and how they will be used in the lesson.

0/1=Poor
Teacher states TLRs which are not appropriate for the lesson.

The next area to pay attention to is the subject and pedagogical knowledge.

V. Subject and pedagogical knowledge

5=Good
Teacher shows adequate and up-to date subject knowledge linked to objective(s)/ indicator(s).

4=Good
Teacher shows adequate and up-to date subject knowledge but not linked to all the objective(s)/ indicator(s).

3=Satisfactory
Teacher shows adequate but not up to date subject knowledge linked to the objective(s)/indicator(s).

2=Unsatisfory
Teacher shows inadequate but up to date subject knowledge.

0/1=Poor
Teacher shows inadequate and often outdated subject knowledge.

VI. Introduction to the lesson. The introduction of a lesson will be assess using the following items with their respective allocated scores.

5=Very Good
Teacher introduces the lesson, reviews students’ RPK, links it up with topic and stimulates student interest. Teacher shares lesson objective(s)/indicator(s) with students.

4=Good
Teacher introduces the lesson, reviews students’ RPK, links it up with topic and stimulates student interest but does not share lesson objective(s)/indicator(s) with students.

3=Satisfactory
Teacher introduces the lesson, reviews students’ RPK and links it up with topic.

2=Unsatisfory
Teacher introduces the lesson and reviews students’ RPK.

0/1=Poor
Teacher introduces the lesson by merely stating the topic.

In conclusion, the FORM A of Teaching Practice Assessment has a column and allocated scores for objectives, summarises or/ core points, teaching and learning activities, TLRs, subject and pedagogical knowledge, introduction to the lesson. Beneath each of the mentioned items to be scored, there are strength levels and what would determine the score you will earn at the end of the day’s supervision.
