Assessment in general is geared towards the betterment of any activity that one engages in. Using “education” lens to discuss assessment, assessment in the context of Teacher Trainees on the field of practice before being posted as a professional talks about giving comments, giving/or writing of satisfactory notes, and making suggestions for improvements.
Criticisms are meant to direct the path of a Teacher Trainee when they are out of campus/college for their Macro Teaching (Out programme).

Under the auspices UCC, the 4-year Bachelor of Education programme for Colleges of Education’s (CoE) assessment for Teacher Trainees Teaching Practice have been designed in two (2) divergent ways.
The first form is dubbed FORM A while the second is FORM B.
The first form is mainly for how to deliver a lesson successfully, how to go about your teaching objective(s), how to blend effectively the teaching and learning resources with your delivery, including all it takes to achieve a successful lesson delivery.
The FORM A is the yardstick used by supervisors from the respective Colleges of Education (CoE) sent by the Supported Teaching in Schools Unit (STS Unit) of the Teacher Trainee.
There are items and their respective scores indicated on each field as a guide for supervisors to follow since the Teaching Practice Assessment is also meant for scores that will be summed and added to the portals of Teacher Trainees. Teaching Practice Assessment Form’s scores contributes immensely to the CGPA of Teacher Trainees hence, it should be treated preciously.
Attached is a list of items on Teaching Practice Assessment FORM B for the perusal of would-be teachers teaching assiduously at (will be teaching at) the various school of practice.
The Teaching Practice Assessment’s FORM B for Teacher Trainees
The form has the following items:
- Name of student.
- Registration number (Index number).
- The Level of the would-be teacher.
- The trainee’s Programme (B.ed Primary, B.ed JHS, B.ed ECE etc).
- The School of Practice ( your attached school for teaching practice).
- Your attached Form/Class of practice.
NB: In case you have decided per the request of your Head teacher to assist another class, kindly stick to your attached Form/Class by your college for the supervision unless that arrangement have been communicated to your college.
- The Subject to be taught for supervision.
- The Date the supervised lesson was taught.
- The Time for your lesson.
- The Topic of your Lesson.
The next aspect of FORM B is COMMENTS section.
In this section of the form, supervisors are to give comments on what they have supervised (your lesson). Comments on “Good” practices and “Satisfactory” will be inked on the form for your use / bettering your teaching practice.
Also, there is another portion allocated for areas which need improvement and suggestions for improvements.
