Consider self-employment option after the mandatory one-year Service -NSS Boss suggests

The Executive Director for NSS, Osei Assibey-Antwi has suggested that National Service Personnel should consider self-employment options after their mandatory one-year Service.

The Executive Director’s advice was given at a webinar under the theme “Positioning Yourself for the Job Market after National Service” on the 17th day of September 2023 which was organized by SALT Institute in collaboration with NSS for personnel.

The participants present at the webinar organized by Sundoulos Advanced Leadership Training (SALT) Institute count over 3,000 across the nation.

At the webinar, the Executive Director, Osei Assibey-Antwi explained that “The ‘Deployment to Employment’ policy underscores our commitment to transitioning our National Service Personnel into the world of work seamlessly.

“We understand that completing your National Service is not just a milestone but the beginning of a new chapter in your life. It is the NSS’ mission to equip you with the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate the complexities of the job market.”

Appreciating the efforts of the organizers, he said “I want to take a moment to express our sincere appreciation to the SALT Institute for their steadfast commitment to worthwhile partnerships. Their dedication to empowering our youth aligns seamlessly with our vision for the NSS.

In the name of the Scheme, NSS’s Executive Director disclosed that they believe that collaboration with institutions like SALT Institute is essential to providing their service personnel with the best possible opportunities for growth and development in all spheres they wish to work in.

The mandatory one-year Service is scheduled to come to an end come December 2023 for all personnel deployed frrom the forty-six (46) Colleges of Education.

Personnel deployed from the universities are done with their service in this month, September leaving their counterparts from the Colleges of Education because they commenced theirs in November 2022.

The deployed personnel from the CoE started their one-year mandatory service in February 2023.
