Ghana Education Service (GES) has released the 2023/2024 running academic year calendar for all basic schools (KG/PRIMARY/JHS).

GES 2023/2024: ALL WEEKS FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR

According to the calendar, the 2023/2024 academic has thirty-eight (38) weeks of contact.

What is the contact hours for teaching in 2023/2024 GES academic year?

The scheduled contact hours for teaching per the 2023/2024 academic year calendar is 7 hours/day. Out of the 7 hours, 6 hours will used for teaching and learning. The remaining 1 hour will cater for the break.

2023/2024 FIRST TERM (1st Term) COMMENCEMENT DATE

The First Term of the 2023/2024 academic year has 13 WEEKS.

The term starts on 3rd October 2023 through to 21st December, 2023.

FIRST TERM (1st Term) VACATION DATE

First Term vacation starts on 22nd December, 2023 to 9th January, 2024.

SECOND TERM (2nd Term) COMMENCEMENT DATE

The Second Term of the 2023/2024 academic year has 14 WEEKS.

Second Term vacation starts on 9th January, 2024 through to 11th April, 2024.

SECOND TERM (2nd Term) VACATION DATE

Second Term vacation starts on 12th April, 2024 to 7th May, 2024.

THIRD TERM (3rd Term) COMMENCEMENT DATE

The Third Term of the 2023/2024 academic year has 12 WEEKS.

The term will start on 7th May 2024 through to 25th July, 2024.

2024 BECE DATE

According to the calendar, the 2024 BECE will be written in June/July.
