Makafui Awuku turns pure water sachets into 200 desks for 7 schools in Greater Accra

The Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Mckingtorch Africa, and environmentalist, Makafui Awuku, has turned pure water sachets into 200 desks for 7 schools in Greater Accra. Makafui Awuku, sharing his feat in solving one of Ghana’s environmental problems, plastic pollution, stated that his establishment, Mckingtorch Africa Limited, has recycled thousands of kilograms of pure water sachets into school desks for some schools in the Greater Accra Region.

“We now have 200 desks in 7 schools in the Greater Accra Region through various funding partner organization projects. Through a Prudential Life Insurance Ghana project in partnership with Academic City University, Mckingtorch Africa had the opportunity to do another 100 desks from 1,000kg of recycled pure water sachet waste for Gbegbeyise School in Dansoman. Over 500,000 sachet bags are in these 100 desks,” Makafui Awuku disclosed.

Supporting the creative works of Mckingtorch Africa Limited, the Member of Parliament for Ketu North, Hon. Edem Eric Agbana, promised to construct two 20ft x 15ft open market sheds in Ehi to support night-time trading in his constituency.

“I had a very fruitful and forward-looking conversation with young Ghanaian entrepreneur, Makafui Awuku, who is passionately and innovatively transforming plastic waste into plastic wealth. Through his recycling initiative, he converts plastic waste into useful products such as roofing sheets, desks, flower vases, and more.”

“We have agreed to rely on his expertise to construct two 20ft x 15ft open market sheds in Ehi to support night-time trading. The sheds will be roofed using recycled plastic roofing tiles manufactured by McKingtorch Africa. This initiative will not only enhance economic activity and improve livelihoods in the locality but will also promote environmental sustainability.”

The project will begin in the first week of August, upon the completion of all local arrangements with the Chiefs and stakeholders of Ehi. “This project forms part of my special initiatives for the third quarter. I am particularly excited about this collaboration because not only do I have the opportunity to support the innovation and enterprise of a brilliant young Ghanaian, but I also get to further advance my Green Ketu North agenda through this meaningful and impactful initiative.”

Mckingtorch Africa Limited is involved in various initiatives, including recycling pure water sachets into roofing sheets and flower vases /or pots, as well as collaborations with other organizations.
