Colleges of Education Admission for 2024/2025: Admission Forms, Portal opening, Entry Requirements, Application Cost, Deadline

Colleges of Education (CoE) since 2018 are running a 4-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) programmes across all the forty-six (46) accredited Colleges of Education in Ghana.

The admission requirements for 2024/2025 academic year for Colleges of Education application are out. The portal for application and application costs have been detailed.

The 2024/2025 academic year admission has begun and interested and qualified applicants are invited to apply for admission.

The general admission requirements for the 4-Year BEd programme:

Requirements


WASSCE/SSSCE Applicants:
WASSCE Holders: Credit passes (A1-C6) in six (6) subjects, including English Language, Core Mathematics, Social Studies, and three (3) elective subjects relevant to the course of study.


SSSCE Holders: Credit passes (A-D) in six (6) subjects, including English Language, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies, and three (3) elective subjects relevant to the course of study.

NB:
Candidates awaiting the 2024 WASSCE or TVET Certificate II Examinations can also apply as awaiting results applicants.


General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advance Level Applicants: Applicants must:


Have passes in three (3) subjects (at least one pass should be Grade D or better) in addition to credit passes (Grade 6) in five GCE Ordinary Level subjects, including English Language, Mathematics, and a Science or a Social Science subject.


Advanced Business Certificate Examination (ABCE) Applicants:


Have passes in three (3) subjects (at least one pass should be Grade D or better) and credit passes in five (5) subjects, including English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies in the General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE).


Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Applicants:


• Have TVET Certificate Il Examinations with Lower Credit (C-) or better in six (6) subjects, including English, Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies, and three (3) relevant Elective Subjects.

• Possess Certificate ll in three (3) relevant trade areas awarded by the
Technical Examinations Unit (TEU), National Vocational Training
Institute (NVTI), City & Guilds, and other authorised awarding bodies in addition to NABPTEX Certificate Il in lieu of passes in English and Mathematics.

• Have National Board for Professional and Technicians Examinations
(NABPTEX) Certificate ll in relevant trade areas in addition to three (3)
credit passes in WASSCE/SSSCE core subjects, including English and
Mathematics.

• Possess a National Certificate II qualification in Competency-Based
Training (CBT) in a relevant trade area awarded by TEU on the National TVET OQualification Framework (NTVETOF).


Foreign Qualifications:


Possess Certificate II in three (3) relevant trade areas awarded by authorized bodies in addition to NABPTEX Certificate II, or
Have National Certificate II qualification in Competency-Based Training (CBT) in a relevant trade area awarded by TEU on the National TVET Qualification Framework (NTVETOF).

It is important to note that all foreign qualifications should be referred to the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) for equivalence determination and eligibility for admission.

The Bachelor of Education programs currently offered in the Colleges of Education are as follows:

  • 4-year Bachelor of Education in Early Grade Education
  • 4-year Bachelor of Education in Primary Education
  • 4-year Bachelor of Education in Junior High School (JHS) Education


Note: The JHS option provides applicants with the opportunity to specialize
in a particular subject area to enable them teach at the JHS level after graduation. The subjects include Science, Agric. Science, Mathematics, ICT, Home Economics, Music, Visual Arts, Social Studies, Geography, History, English, Ghanaian Language (Asante-Twi, Akwapim-Twi, Dagaare, Dagbani, Dangme, Ewe, Fante, Ga, Gonja, Gurene, Kasem, Nzema), French, and Arabic

 Cost of Application: Where to purchase College of Education Forms

The application process is conducted online through the Colleges of Education admission portal. Applicants are required to make a payment of Three Hundred Ghana Cedis (GH¢ 300.00) at any branch of the Consolidated Bank, Ghana (CBG) Limited. Payment can be made through cash, mobile money wallets (Vodafone cash, Airtel payment Money, Tigo, and MTN Mobile Money).

After payment, applicants will receive a Personal Identification Number (PIN) and an Admission Application Serial Number. Using the PIN, applicants should visit the Colleges of Education admission website (admission.coeportal.edu.gh) and follow the specific guidelines to fill the online application form.

Applicants must properly complete the application form and print a copy. The printed form, along with a passport photograph and copies of results slips, should be sent by EMS priority envelope obtainable from Ghana Post nationwide to the Principal of the applicant’s first choice college.

Applicants will receive notifications of the receipt of their applications and admission offers via SMS. It is crucial to provide accurate and reliable mobile phone numbers during the application process. The Colleges of Education will verify applicants’ results from the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) as part of the admission process. Submission of fake or falsified documents will result in legal consequences.

Admission Requirements

a. Applicants with WASSCE results should have Credit Passes (A1-C6) in two
(2) CORE subjects including English Language and Social Studies and three
(3) credit passes in relevant elective subjects.

b. Applicants with SSSCE results should have Credit Passes (A-D) in two (2)
CORE SUubjects including English Language and Social Studies and credit
passes in three (3) relevant elective subjects.

Hearing impaired

Study facilities are available at:

1. Presbyterian College of Education, AKROPONG

Admission Requirements

a. Applicants with WASSCE results should have Credit passes (A1-C6) in three (3) CORE subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science, or Social Studies, and credit passes in three (3) relevant Elective subjects.

b. Applicants with SSSCE results should have Credit Passes (A-D) in three (3) Core subjects including English Language and Mathematics and credit passes in three (3) relevant Elective subjects.

Application deadline

The application deadline for the 2024/2025 academic year is Sunday, August 31, 2024. All interested and qualified are urged to consider the deadline while applying.
