GES-HQ ordered internal halt of validation and reinstatement of revoked appointment letters -NPT alleged

By | April 30, 2025

According to a Newly Posted Teacher from the university, she alleged that the Ghana Education Service (GES) Headquarters ordered the internal halt of validation and reinstatement of revoked appointment letters after its public announcement.

In the news weeks ago, the Director-General of GES, Professor Ernest Kofi Davis, issued an official letter in February 2025 stating that all those who are not placed on the payroll should have their appointment revoked. After public lashes and outcry, he issued another communiqué directing that the Regional offices should validate and reinstate the said teachers.

According to the alleged information we picked from the Informed Teachers Network (ITN) platform, it was shared that many Newly Recruited Teachers at the second cycle level went through the validation process as ordered by the Director-General of GES, but they haven’t heard anything from the Headquarters.

“As I speak to you now, we all went for the validation in March, but we haven’t heard anything from the Headquarters since then.”

“We have been teaching since December in the second cycle schools.
Mind you, I teach from Form 1 to Form 3. These are double-track students.”

Expressing their grievance, she (Joyce) said, “We have had no break, yet we still don’t have staff IDs or salaries.”

“Meanwhile, the second cycle schools are facing a shortage of teachers, and many of our colleagues already have their appointment letters sitting at the regional offices, waiting to be reposted.”

Madam Joyce allegedly said GES Headquarters ordered that the validation and reinstatement of the revoked appointment letters should be halted.

“But when they go to the region, they are told that the Headquarters has ordered all processes to be halted.”

“Is it a crime to be a teacher in Ghana?
Why are our teacher unions silent on this issue?” she quizzed.

Madam Joyce again called on the Teacher Unions to help bring a solution to their by saying when nurses faced similar problems, their union fought for them.

“When nurses faced similar problems, their union fought for them.”

“GES, please do something for us. We are young and energetic Ghanaians.
This is our right. Why are you making us feel like slaves in our own country?” she concluded.

The words of Joyce as shared by ITN

Please, this is Joyce.
Hmm… the kind of hardship they are taking us through is not easy at all.

Many of us newly recruited teachers from the universities are also facing the same issue.

The Director-General issued a letter stating that all those not on the payroll should have their appointments revoked. He later issued another communiqué that those whose appointments were revoked should go for validation and reinstatement.
