In the sphere of education, there are numerous professionals hence, the name Itinerant and Peripatetic teachers calls for discussion to the core.

Generally, Teachers / Facilitators are great guide in every aspect of life. Teachers do not hold knowledge of the makeups of life but then, they guide learners to achieve their desired dreams through many practical modes because, the professional Teacher goes through training in a well structured education institution(s) before resuming post (the classroom / field of target).

Professionals are needed in every field same applies to education specifically, handling of special education challenges.

In our discussion per this article, focus is laid on Itinerant and Peripatetic Teachers/Facilitators, what it means to be any of the above Teachers / Facilitators including the their other vital attributes.

DEFINITION OF THE TWO PROFESSIONALS

The diagnoses and drawing of remedial programmes for special learners, moving form school to school as an additional duty (supervising their progress after drawing the programme), and heading district schools in a community by a specialist best defines/describes an ITINERANT TEACHER.

The Peripatetic Teachers are well trained Teachers who works at the District or/ Regional Education Offices. Also, they are trained and certificated professionals.

Their duty is to identify, refer, and recommend learners with special needs for the best placement including the provision of assistance through the going to school by school.

The Peripatetic Teachers also counsels parents of learners with the identified special needs.

Further, since parents are the first and rightful owners of their wards, any duty of the Peripatetic teacher must seek for there hearings and working it forward for both the school, family, the identified as an individual, and the nation as large.

Every child in Ghana must attend school. The duty of the ward’s parent is to provide the best for their children in order to meet their future desire as parents for their wards and the individual desires of that child.

This and many calls for entitlement and focusing of your duty. There are a number of professionals that works collectively for the success of the special needs child in every educational institutions in a country say Ghana as an example.

The School Psychologist has a duty call in the educational life of a special needs child, Psychiatrists are not exempted, the Physical Therapists among others are some of the professionals in the Special Needs Education field that works tirelessly to unearth and train the special needs children for the best outlook effectively and efficiently.

Children will special needs do not mean they cannot be fruitful rather, they need special care to guide and direct their path for their best outcome since they are special.

Having learning disability do not mean you are disable. You can be able when the right techniques and strategies are tasked to work at the right and appropriate environment.

In schools that have learners with walking disabilities, a walkway should be constructed to aid the walking to classes or lectures.

It is believed that missing a class has a chance of affecting the victim therefore, considering the condition of learners (walking challenge) accompanied by other special needs have the tendency to influence their academic performance.

In conclusion, both the Itinerant and Peripatetic Teachers are Professionals who contributes immensely to the entire life (education inclusive) of the special learner through their specific assigned duty in schools. Itinerant Teacher- Diagnosing and drawing special programmes, supervising for to affirm progress, heading a school in the community all geared towards the betterment of the special learners.

Where as the Peripatetic Teachers identify, refer, and recommend learners with special needs for the best placement including the provision of assistance through the going to school by school including counseling of parents that the special learners belongs to.
